I’m so nervous about the birth

Paula Brasovanu, Advisory Service Midwife

It’s natural to feel nervous about giving birth, especially if it’s your first
time. The truth is, it is going to hurt but nature has designed the birthing
process brilliantly. For instance, your body will release chemicals called
endorphins to help see you through. This section will help you to
overcome some of your nerves but if you still need to talk things
over or have any questions, please contact our team.

How to build your confidence up

Right now you probably have a million and one questions about the stages of labour and what happens during childbirth. And often, it’s this not knowing that causes so much stress and worry. But you probably know more than you think.

Go through your birth plan again. Nothing gives you more confidence than being prepared so you may find our section on the three stages of labour useful too.

Most importantly, don’t bottle it up! Talk to your partner or health care professional about your concerns it really does help.
