Ingredients:

• 200 ml cold water
• 4 scoops follow-on formula powder*
• 2 ½ level teaspoons maize cornflour
• Optional: 1 teaspoon butter

Method:

Saucepan Method:
Put water in a measuring jug. Use a small whisk to mix in formula powder.
Tip all but 50 ml of formula milk into a small saucepan.
Whisk the cornflour into remaining 50 mls of formula until perfectly smooth.
Heat formula in saucepan, stirring occasionally with a wooden spoon, until almost simmering.
Add cornflour mixture, stirring constantly until it comes to the boil.
Reduce heat to low.
Continue simmering, stirring constantly, until thickened – about 1 minute.
Remove from heat.
Optional: add butter and stir until melted

Microwave method:
Cook time for 800 watt oven
Whisk together the formula milk and cornflour in a microwave safe bowl until smooth. (Use a medium size bowl, about 12 cm tall, or a litre jug, as it froths up during cooking).
Microwave for 3 minutes, whisking well after each minute.
Optional: whisk in butter. The sauce thickens on cooling. Thin as necessary with water or formula.

Serve warm, mixed with cooked vegetables, e.g. broccoli, cauliflower, courgette/zucchini, swede, parsnip, green beans, yams, pumpkin, carrot (chopped, mashed, puréed).

Please note* This recipe has been tested using Follow-On formula
