Baby’s custard with egg yolk

Ingredients:
• 1 egg yolk
• ½ to 1 teaspoon sugar
• 1 level tablespoon (3 level teaspoons) maize cornflour
• 200 ml breast milk or prepared follow-on formula*

Microwave method:
Cook time for 800 watt oven
In a small microwave bowl or oven-glass jug (about 500 ml capacity), whisk egg yolk, sugar, cornflour and ¼ cup of the milk.
Microwave remaining ¾ cup of milk for 1 minute.
Whisk hot milk into yolk mixture.
Microwave for 1 minute, whisk, and then microwave 30 seconds. Whisk again. Let it cool for about 3 minutes.
Put a small serving into a feeding bowl to serve as soon as it is cool enough. Cover the rest and refrigerate.
Use within 2 days.
Note: For babies over 7 months, follow-on formula or standard milk can be used to make custard.
